CHICAGO – Few figures have had less of an exciting domination of the world than Kevin Hart. In the past few years, the comedian has skyrocketed to leading fixture in the comedy scene, creating hit scripts out of films like “Think Like A Man” and “About Last Night,” while taking victory laps in his lacking stand-up features like “Kevin Hart: Let Me Explain”. The big problem is that these projects don’t justify his comic potential.
Chicago premiere of Internet phenomenon, 'MADtv' star, comedian Anjelah Johnson is on Nov. 28, 2008
I just received the following press release.
Chicago Premiere of Internet Phenomenon, MADtv Star, Comedian Anjelah Johnson
The Lakeshore Theater is proud to welcome comedian Anjelah Johnson to Chicago for four shows, November 28 at 8:00 and 10:30pm and November 29 7:30 and 9:45pm, 2008
Coming from unassuming start as an Oakland Raiders’ cheerleader, Anjelah Johnson has risen quickly to make a powerful impact on the national comedy scene. Her presence as a strong Latina role model rivals that of Jennifer Lopez or Selena with a platform of comedy rather than music. She has parlayed her charm and talent to a successful career in live performance, television acting and viral videos.
Though true success can not be measured, Anjelah’s star is clearly on the rise as she is selling out venues all across the Country and has produced YouTube and Google videos, including her controversial impersonation of a Vietnamese manicurist, that have attracted upwards of ten million individual viewings.
Anjelah’s television credits include Mad TV, Comedy Central’s Live at Gotham, and as host of Si-TV’s On the Up. She was nominated for Outstanding Female Performance in a comedy Television Series by the ALMA Awards for her performance on Mad TV. Her stand up career started as a fluke at a comedy class and continues to gain steam as she headlines premier venues such as The Improv Comedy Club, The Comedy Store, and numerous casinos, colleges, and churches all over the U.S.
Crowned “Best Place to See Comedy in Chicago” by Chicago magazine and “Favorite Place for Comedy in Chicago” by Myspace, the Lakeshore Theater boats a heady, year-round roster of performances by an eclectic mix of established stars, underground heroes and left-field geniuses as well as a track record of consistently sold-out shows by an equally impressive line up of top destinations located at 3175 N. Broadway – Chicago IL, 60657
Anjelah Johnson will be at the Lakeshore Theater, 3175 N. Broadway in Chicago, on Friday November 28 at 8:00pm and 10:30pm, and Saturday November 29 at 7:30pm and 9:45pm. Tickets are $25 and are available by calling (773) 472-3492 or by visiting http://www.lakeshoretheater.com.
