David Schwimmer, who you’d most notably know from “Friends,” is trying to break beyond that successful affiliation and branch out. He’s now making waves with his directorial feature debut of “Run, Fatboy, Run” starring Simon Pegg.

An alum of Northwestern University in the Chicago area of Evanston, Ill. and the co-founder of Chicago’s Lookingglass Theater Company, Schwimmer said in a Redeye interview [1] published on March 28, 2008:
”It’s just a great city,” said the former “Friends” star, who graduated with a degree in speech and theater from Northwestern. “The people are great, the restaurants are great … I feel in a way that I’m a Chicagoan at heart because of the work ethic of that city.”
”It’s a great theater town,” Schwimmer said. Chicagoans “go to the theater in a way that’s like going to the movies. It’s like everyone does it, it’s part of the culture and it’s casual. It’s like what do you want to do tonight? Do you want to see a play?”
The Fresno Bee was also picked up [2] in Redeye on March 28, 2008 and discussed Schwimmer’s reluctance to use his star power to promote the new independent film.
