TV News: FOX Announces Fall Schedule with Six New Shows

CHICAGOFOX announced their 2013-14 schedule this morning and your favorite shows aren’t going anywhere with several interesting new dramas and comedies to support them. With A-list talent in front of the camera (Seth Green, Andre Braugher, Andy Samber) and behind it (J.J. Abrams, Seth MacFarlane), FOX has an ambitious new slate.

TV News: NBC Struggles on Wednesday Nights, CBS Wins Close Ratings War

The Neighbors

CHICAGO – The first new Wednesday of the Fall 2012 season told a predictable story — CBS and ABC are doing well, FOX is still under-delivering, and NBC is in dire shape. As for new shows, “The Neighbors” was well-sampled out of mega-hit “Modern Family” but we’ll see if that lasts while “Animal Practice” and “Guys with Kids” can practically feel the blade of the cancellation axe already.

TV News: FOX Moves ‘Glee,’ ‘Touch,’ Launches Three New Shows

CHICAGO – When so much of your already-limited primetime schedule is devoted to reality singing competitions and animated programming, it gives a network little room to play. FOX only has a few timeslots once one takes “The X Factor”/”American Idol” and “Animation Domination” out of the equation. But play they will.

TV News: FOX Reveals Fate of ‘Allen Gregory,’ Gives ‘24’ Movie Update

Allen Gregory

CHICAGOFOX has confirmed what everyone expected; the animated series “Allen Gregory” starring the voice of Jonah Hill is officially cancelled. The news came today at the FOX Television Critics Association meeting and press tour event in Pasadena.

TV News: CBS Misses Ratings Target With ‘How to Be a Gentleman’

How to Be a Gentleman

CHICAGO – It has felt for a few years like everything CBS threw against the wall would stick. Sure, shows like “The Defenders” and “$#*! My Dad Says” got canceled but they weren’t bombs. Ladies and gentleman, we are happy to report that the new Kevin Dillon sitcom “How to Be a Gentleman” is an official bomb. With a household rating of only 5.5, the show dropped a remarkable 41% from its lead-in (“The Big Bang Theory”) and was even down 18% from the second episode of “$#*! My Dad Says” at this time last year. Thanks for ignoring this mess.

TV News: FOX’s ‘The X Factor’ Dips in Ratings, ‘Modern Family’ Stays Hot

The X Factor

CHICAGOFOX’s new reality singing competition, “The X Factor,” dropped in its ratings from last week’s premiere to this week’s new auditions. While the drop is no surprise (almost every show drops in ratings from the premiere to the weeks that follow) “The X Factor” was already slightly disappointing in its viewership from week one.

TV News: ‘Person of Interest,’ ‘Charlie’s Angels’ Have Decent Premiere Ratings, ‘The Office’ Maintains

Charlie's Angels Season 1 Premiere

CHICAGO – The overnights for the first new Thursday of the Fall 2011 season are in and there were no major surprises. Every network has something to be happy about and something to worry about, depending on who’s spinning the story. “The X Factor” maintained from its opening night numbers and “The Office” proved it may not need Steve Carell, while “Person of Interest” and “Charlie’s Angels” were well-sampled.

TV News: FOX’s ‘The X Factor’ Opens Below Ratings Expectations

The X Factor

CHICAGO – The highly-anticipated series premiere of “The X Factor” on FOX was watched by enough people to not be considered a failure but its numbers were well below insider expectations, falling FAR short of “American Idol” numbers and not even topping the night as the most-watched program. It was a solid opening by most standards when it comes to assessing new programs but far from an instant hit, and if it slides (as most new shows do) it could be one of the year’s surprise losers.

TV Review: Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul Need to Prove ‘The X Factor’

CHICAGO – Singing competitions are becoming as pervasive as sports on TV. But as the “leagues” multiply, will the audience show up to yet another franchise? The granddaddy of all prime time singing judges, Simon Cowell, hopes he has “The X Factor” to create another hit, which premieres September 21st on FOX.
