CHICAGO – Season 16 for the Asian Pop Up Cinema (APUC) had a spectacular finale with “Lost in Forest,” a North American Premiere wrapping up the Taiwan Cinema Showcase. Appearing live at the Red Carpet and participating in a post film Q&A were lead actor Lee Kang Sheng and Director Johnny Chiang.

CHICAGO – On April 1st (2:30pm), director Ka Sing Fung will represent the North American premiere of his film “Lost Love,” part of Season 16 for the Asian Pop-Up Cinema (APUC), with screenings at AMC New City in Chicago. CHICAGO – The Fall Season Five comes to a close for the Asian Pop-Up Cinema series in Chicago as they facilitate the Midwest Premiere of “Bad Genius” – directed by Nattawut ‘Baz’ Poonpiriya – on Wednesday, November 15th, 2017, at the AMC River East 21 Theatre. Inspired by a true story, the film is about intrigue surrounding a organized ring of test cheaters, procuring answers in advance of high school exams, and running a business associated with that cheating. CHICAGO – The Fall Season Five continues for the Asian Pop-Up Cinema series in Chicago as they roll down the alley for “Split,” Wednesday, November 1st, 2017, at the AMC River East 21 Theatre. This South Korean bowling comedy is directed by Choi Kook-hee. Patrick McDonald of HollywoodChicago.com will make an appearance as “the bowler,” with Ron Falzone of Columbia College moderating. CHICAGO – When The Beatles changed pop music forever in the early 1960s, they also launched a worldwide revolution of bands and songwriters. One such star was Teddy Robin Kwan, who founded Teddy Robin & the Playboys in Hong Kong, and rightly took the crown as “The King of Asian Pop.” And for his second act, the small-but-mighty Kwan became one of Hong Kong’s top film composers, as well as a director and actor of note. He was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Asian Pop-Up Cinema series Closing Night Gala in Chicago on May 11th, 2017.

CHICAGO – The Fourth Season of the Asian Pop-Up Cinema series comes to a rousing conclusion with the Closing Night film – “Love, Lies” – from South Korean director Park Heung-Sik. The screening will take place on Wednesday, May 3rd, 1017, at the AMC River East Theatre in downtown Chicago. Director Park Heung-sik will attend the screening, and participate in a Q&A afterwards.
