CHICAGO – It’s always darkest before the dawn, and an entire genre of film is available for Chicago. The historic Music Box Theatre presents “Noir City: Chicago 2022” – August 26th-September 1st, 2022 – the celebration of “film noir,” the dark category of film drama that usually takes place at night, and features a rogues gallery of dames, gumshoes, coppers and crooks.

CHICAGO – It’s been three years, there is definitely a need to get together and destroy something. So in the spirit of this urge, power couple filmmaker Jack C. Newell and Rebecca Fons of the Gene Siskel Film Center, will conduct their 4th “Destroy Your Art” event, back from its last incarnation in 2019. The idea is a filmmaker creates a film, shows it once to the audience, and then destroys it forever. This will take place this year at the historic Music Box Theatre on August 25th, 2022. In the Apple TV+ series “Trying,” Esther portrays Nikki and Rafe Spall portrays Jason, a couple who desires children and ends up … at Season Two’s end … with two adoptees. Season Three began streaming last month.

CHICAGO – YippieFest, one of the great performance festivals in Chicago, is returning this upcoming weekend, August 19th, 20th and 21st at the Den Theatre in the Wicker Park neighborhood. Friday the 19th is music night, with a night of bands and groups, and Saturday/Sunday will be performance, with theatre, comedy, stand-up, dance and more.
