Video Game Review: ‘Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’ Delivers on High Expectations
Submitted by BrianTT on November 29, 2009 - 5:17pmCHICAGO – One of the more anticipated games in years is finally here and, by now, most diehard fans of “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare” have played through “Modern Warfare 2” on multiple difficulty levels and spent countless hours working through the variety of multiplayer modes and special ops missions. Hardcore fans of this franchise don’t just “play” these games. They eat, breathe, and live “Modern Warfare” for months after the game’s release and with a title this good, who can blame them?
Video Game Review: ‘Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time’
Submitted by BrianTT on November 23, 2009 - 6:18pmCHICAGO – There have been several highly-touted, well-marketed video game releases this season including “Uncharted 2,” “Assassin’s Creed II,” “Left For Dead 2,” and “COD: Modern Warfare 2,” but one of my most personally anticipated titles of the year has gone somewhat unnoticed. The lack of press made me wonder if perhaps I would be let down by “Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time”. Wonder no more - this is easily one of the best games of the year and a worthy entry (and reported finale) in this beloved franchise.
Video Game Review: ‘Tekken 6’ Punches Way to Fighting Game of 2009
Submitted by BrianTT on November 16, 2009 - 10:54amCHICAGO – What do you look for in a fighting game? A fluid control scheme is key - players don’t want to struggle to figure out the basic moves like kicking and punching and want to feel like they will eventually master the more complex combos from first play. Graphics are important.
Video Game Review: Activision Gets Poppy With Catchy ‘Band Hero’
Submitted by BrianTT on November 13, 2009 - 1:36pmCHICAGO – No one can accuse Activision and Neversoft of allowing their music game franchise to get stale. In fact, some might argue that they have flooded the market with too many similar products including “Guitar Hero: Metallica,” “Guitar Hero: Smash Hits,” “Guitar Hero 5,” “DJ Hero,” and, now, “Band Hero” in just this year alone (with “Guitar Hero: Van Halen” dropping before Christmas as well).
Video Game News: Downloadable Content Available For Amazing ‘Fallout 3’ on PlayStation 3
Submitted by BrianTT on November 9, 2009 - 2:54pmCHICAGO – The critically-acclaimed downloadable content (DLC) that expands the already enormous experience that is “Fallout 3” has recently been made available for the Sony PlayStation 3. We wanted to make sure you knew what to expect from each of the five DLC options. Pick your favorite or buy all five, all of which are also available in the “Game of the Year” edition, now on shelves.
Video Game Review: ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ a Missed Opportunity
Submitted by BrianTT on November 2, 2009 - 11:36amCHICAGO – Have you ever liked a movie so much that you’re willing to play through a sub-par video game tie-in just to spend more time in its universe? As I played through the adaptation of “Where the Wild Things Are” in only two marathon sittings, I realized that the reason I couldn’t turn it off had a lot more to do with Spike Jonze’s incredible film and really nothing to do with this inferior game.
Video Game Review: ‘NBA 2K10’ Dunks Over ‘NBA Live 10’
Submitted by BrianTT on October 22, 2009 - 11:42pmCHICAGO – It’s the same story every year. 2K Sports and Electronic Arts release their basketball video games at the same time and it’s impossible not to contrast and compare. This critic was looking forward to writing something like a scorecard, choosing which title wins in different fields like graphics, gameplay, presentation, etc.

Video Game Review: ‘Brutal Legend’ Rocks, But Misses a Few Chords
Submitted by BrianTT on October 16, 2009 - 12:49amVideo Game Rating: 3.5/5.0 |
CHICAGO – Can a game be clever and beautiful to look at but not be fun? EA’s highly anticipated “Brutal Legend” tests this theory with some amazing design, a unique concept, and very funny storytelling, but with actual gameplay that can be remarkably frustrating. To paraphrase something a friend recently said about something else that seems appropriate here, I liked everything about “Brutal Legend” except actually playing it.
Video Game Review: ‘Marvel Ultimate Alliance 2’ Delivers Amazing Action

CHICAGO – For every “Iron Man” or “The Dark Knight,” there are a half dozen movies like “Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer” or “Elektra” littering the marketplace. Naturally, those of us well-versed in the world of superhero entertainment consider ourselves lucky if every other product featuring caped men (or women) actually works.
