Film Review: Harmless ‘The Three Stooges’ Can’t Deliver the Goods
Submitted by PatrickMcD on April 13, 2012 - 6:48am.CHICAGO – Moe, Larry and Curly are three of the most popular names in the show business universe, and bringing them back to life in the new film “The Three Stooges” was a questionable risk. The re-imaging, with Chris Diamantopoulous, Sean Hayes and Will Sasso filling the trio’s roles, is a loving tribute that unfortunately veers in too many “Un-Stooge” like directions.
TV Review: Larry David Returns With More ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’
Submitted by BrianTT on July 10, 2011 - 11:50am.CHICAGO – Larry David returns tonight with another batch of misanthropic mayhem that he calls the eighth season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” According to an HBO publicist, David himself picked three episodes to send critics, although none of them were tonight’s season premiere or even next week’s episode.
TV Review: ‘The Paul Reiser Show’ Diminishes Legacy of Sitcom Star
Submitted by BrianTT on April 14, 2011 - 8:10am.CHICAGO – Tonight’s premiere of “The Paul Reiser Show” is awkward in the way that television is when the viewer can tell that not only is it not quite working for you but that the cast can tell its problematic too. Have you ever seen bad improvisational comedy? You know that moment when you can see in the performer’s eyes that it’s not going well?
DVD Review: Brilliant Seventh Season of ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’
Submitted by BrianTT on June 8, 2010 - 6:44pm.CHICAGO – The last year in television will be remembered as a very funny one as hit new comedies like “Glee,” “Modern Family,” and “Community” joined seasoned veterans like “30 Rock,” “The Office,” and “How I Met Your Mother” on lists of the best laugh-fests on the tube. Arguably the best of them all was also the oldest — the amazing seventh season of HBO’s “Curb Your Enthusiasm,” now available on DVD and simply spectacular.
Exclusive Portrait: Jeff Garlin of HBO’s ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’
Submitted by PatrickMcD on March 16, 2010 - 11:51am.CHICAGO – Jeff Garlin wears his love for his native Chicago on his sleeve. When not cheering for the Cubs and the Bears, he does a little HBO TV show called “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and has just written a new book.
Blu-Ray Review: ‘Whatever Works’ Coasts on Worn Formula
Submitted by BrianTT on October 28, 2009 - 8:58am.CHICAGO – There was a time when a Woody Allen film starring Larry David would have been an obvious slam dunk. Both men have created comic personas so vivid and indelible that it’s hard for viewers to pinpoint the line separating “performance” from “personality.” They have mastered the art of neurotic kvetching, though their similarities are skin-deep at best.
TV Review: ‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Returns as Funny as Ever With ‘Seinfeld’ Cast
Submitted by BrianTT on September 20, 2009 - 2:02pm.CHICAGO – You would have to live under a pop culture rock to not know about the big hook that will happen on this season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” - the reunion of the cast of “Seinfeld”. Yes, Jerry Seinfeld, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander, and Michael Richards all return, but the season starts with a pair of episodes that affirm that “Curb” needs no stunt guest appearances to succeed.
