CHICAGO – Before 1998’s “The Big Lebowski” there was 1996’s “Kingpin”, the Farrelly brothers bowling comedy that didn’t have the narrative intricacies of the Coen brothers’ classic, but had plenty of jokes about middle-aged men playing the sport. Today finds the release of “Kingpin” to Blu-ray for the first time, coming with only one new special feature.
CHICAGO – ABC’s “Zero Hour,” premiering tonight, February 14, 2013 in the deadly time slot recently occupied by shows like “Missing” and “Last Resort,” is a defiantly silly show. It is the network’s latest attempt to recreate the black swan that was “Lost,” and, in many ways, it’s the worst attempt yet.
CHICAGO – This 31-image slideshow contains all of the official press images for the highly anticipated “Middle Men,” starring Luke Wilson, Giovanni Ribisi, Gabriel Macht, Jacinda Barrett, Laura Ramsey, Terry Crews, Rade Sherbedgia, with Kevin Pollak and James Caan. The film was written by George Gallo & Andy Weiss and directed by Gallo. It will be released on August 6th, 2010.
CHICAGO – When Wolfgang Petersen’s “Poseidon” crashed and sank in the wave of summer hits of 2006 — making only $60 million domestically on a reported budget of $160 million — I thought the film got an undeserved bad rap (and it actually did much better internationally). It’s no classic and my love for the Irwin Allen era disaster films might have disguised some flaws but it looks and sounds great on Blu-ray.
