TV Review: Gordon Ramsay Returns to Spruce Up ‘Hotel Hell’

Hotel Hell

CHICAGO – Gordon Ramsay is back! Wait, Gordon Ramsay never really went away! Seriously, FOX must have an entire wing devoted to building programs around the divisive loudmouth who has made an absolute fortune off the failed culinary tactics of wannabe chefs on “Hell’s Kitchen” & “Masterchef” and failed restaurateurs on “Kitchen Nightmares.” Ramsay gets a fourth FOX series starting tonight in “Hotel Hell,” an unscripted series in which the clever businessman heads to bed & breakfasts, inns, and other lodgings and shows them what they’re doing wrong whether they like it or not.

TV Review: Send Flavorless ‘Masterchef’ Back to the Kitchen

CHICAGO – Almost laughably trying to blend FOX hits “American Idol” and “Hell’s Kitchen,” the new cooking competition show “Masterchef,” which debuts on Tuesday, July 27th, 2010, is nowhere near as interesting as either and falls ridiculously flat when compared to the excellent “Top Chef.”

Gordon Ramsay’s Overly Formulaic ‘Hell’s Kitchen’ Has Grown Cold

Hell's Kitchen

Television Rating: 1.5/5.0

CHICAGO – By its very nature, reality television is formulaic. “Survivor,” “The Amazing Race,” “Project Runway,” “Top Chef” - They all follow the same structure every year. But good reality TV mixes it up with interesting competitors and enough variety to keep viewers interested. It has gotten to the point where you can barely tell one episode of “Hell’s Kitchen” from another one, much less from season to season.
