Blu-ray Review: Catch Up With Horror Gem ‘Fright Night’
Submitted by BrianTT on December 21, 2011 - 4:25pmCHICAGO – Why didn’t more of you see “Fright Night”? Do I have to beg to get enough of you to rent or buy it on Blu-ray to justify a sequel or at the very least to prove that intelligent, fast-paced, clever horror like this has an audience? Seriously? As a horror junkie, it’s often more disheartening when a quality genre film bombs than when a crappy one takes off. The latter scenario happens all the time but we only get a few quality flicks a year and I hate it when they fall flat like “Fright Night.” Horror fans, and even those of you who might not accept that label, this movie rules.

Box Office News: Hurricane Lowers Attendance, ‘The Help’ Still Tops
Submitted by BrianTT on August 28, 2011 - 12:56pmCHICAGO – Hurricane Irene caused some drops in the number of attendees out on the east coast this weekend, but “The Help” was still able to come in at number one at the box office, marking the second week in a row where the film led the pack. This is quite the accomplishment considering the film finished in second place in its debut weekend and came in as the front runner in its second and third weeks in the theaters.

Film Review: Clever, Scary ‘Fright Night’ Remake With Colin Farrell
Submitted by BrianTT on August 18, 2011 - 2:40pmCHICAGO – The word remake sends an understandable chill down the spine of most horror fans. We’ve been subjected to so many retreads and reboots and the batting average of quality has been pathetically low. And yet, there are exceptions including Zack Snyder’s “Dawn of the Dead” and David Cronenberg’s “The Fly.”
Film News: ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ Takes Second Box Office Crown
Submitted by BrianTT on August 15, 2011 - 3:02pmCHICAGO – For the second weekend in a row, a rarity in the summer of 2011, “Rise of the Planet of the Apes” came in at number one at the box office with $27.8 million. Positive word-of-mouth and a serious lack of viable competition pushed the suprising hit to #1 at the box office for the second weekend in a row.
