Exclusive Portraits: Bill Murray Back in Chicago for ‘Groundhog Day’

CHICAGO – Bill Murray is a son of Chicagoland, born and raised in the area and beginning his career at The Second City. To honor his friend and collaborator Harold Ramis, Murray made an appearance on February 2nd, 2024, on Chicago’s Navy Pier on behalf of Harold Ramis Day and of course his classic film “Groundhog Day.”

CHICAGO – Denny Laine is a historic force in both the British Invasion of the 1960s with the Moody Blues, and as a member of “Wings” the band formed by him plus Paul and Linda McCartney in the 1970s. Laine died on December 5th, 2023, in Naples, Florida. He was 79.

CHICAGO – Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina and the first woman U.S. Ambassador to the U.N., is throwing her new book into the ring “If You Want Something Done: Leadership Lessons from Bold Women.” She appeared on behalf of the book at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, Illinois, on October 3rd, 2022.

CHICAGO – Actor Ethan Hawke continues his plethora of vocations with the “hawkeing” of “Indeh,” his new graphic novel (co-authored with Greg Ruth) at the 2016 Printers Row Lit Fest in June. He was the celebrity spotlight, but the festival also featured the heavy hitters of the literary world, including notables Terry McMillan (“How Stella Got Her Groove Back”) and R.L.“Goosebumps” Stine.

After seven days of fantastic films and packed houses, the 4th Annual Chicago Critics Film Festival (CCFF) had their closing night on May 26th, 2016, with the film “Operator” – featuring Martin Starr (“Silicon Valley”), and directed by Logan Kibens. CHICAGO – The Red Carpet in Chicago was rolled out in maximum fashion for the November 22nd, 2015, premiere of director Spike Lee’s new film, “Chi-raq.” Despite its controversial title, the city has embraced the film’s metaphoric plea for sanity, and the premiere took place at the historic Chicago Theatre on State Street. Stars of the film, including Nick Cannon, Teyonah Parris, John Cusack, Jennifer Hudson, Wesley Snipes and director Spike Lee were all in attendance, and HollywoodChicago.com photographer Joe Arce got Exclusive Portraits of them all.

CHICAGO – “Creed” is poised to become a contender at the box office over the Thanksgiving weekend, and the new boxing film starring Sylvester Stallone as Rocky Balboa and Michael B. Jordan as Adonis Creed (son of ex-heavyweight champion and Rocky opponent Apollo Creed) is also in the buzz of the 2015 Oscar race. The film premiered in Chicago on Nov. 12th, 2015, with a Red Carpet event at Jones College Prep High School, where a mural was unveiled as part of the ceremony.
