And yet there are some hidden gems deep in the catalog of the most influential and important film studio of all time. The Mouse House just released seven films on five Blu-rays and I can guarantee you that at least one will meet the needs of your family when it’s time to turn on the electric babysitter. CHICAGO – Disney’s “The Lion King” is one of the most beloved properties in the history of the influential movie studio. It was such a phenomenon that it spawned a number of spin-offs, including a Broadway show and two straight-to-video sequels, “The Lion King 2: Simba’s Pride” (1998) and “The Lion King 1 1/2” (2004). The two mediocre sequels were available in a “Lion King” Blu-ray box set but have just been made available solo for the first time. Both are just OK, good for the little ones who have seen the original movie 100 times but otherwise for hardcore Disney collectors only.

CHICAGO – If you are excited for the upcoming Disney-Pixar film “Brave,” you may be interested to know that Disney Interactive Media Group announced today that a game is in production based on the upcoming movie. The game will be released on PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, Nintendo DS, and Windows PC/MAC.

CHICAGO – “Lady and the Tramp” has been somewhat forgotten by time. When people think of Disney, their mind usually goes one of two places — to the classic early day mouse house films like “Dumbo” or “Bambi” or to the comeback films like “The Little Mermaid” or “The Lion King.” The mid-section of the canon seems to be getting lost, including films like “Peter Pan,” “The Sword in the Stone,” “The Jungle Book,” and the recently-released-to-Blu-ray “Lady and the Tramp.”

Well, even if you were, there are new extended versions of the trailers you saw yesterday now available for your viewing pleasure. I mean, at $3 million per 30 second ad, it would have been costly for every film to have a one-minute-plus trailer.

CHICAGO – The newest trailer of a tale as old as time has been released inviting you to see one of Disney’s most classic films on the big screen again…and this time in 3D. “Beauty and the Beast 3D,” a remastered version of the classic film brought to you in three dimensions, will release to theaters everywhere on Jan. 13, 2012.
