CHICAGO – 52 years ago Monday (June 27th, 2022), a young activist got together with a group of marchers – with no permit – and showed the City of Chicago the actual faces of gay liberation. Gary G. Chichester was part of that first gay pride march in 1970 … and 52 years later he’s the Grand Marshall of the 2022 Chicago Pride Parade, live and in person!

CHICAGO – John Michael is kicking out the pandemic and going on the road! Chicago’s favorite monologist is reviving his show, “Meatball Seance” for a Canadian Festival Tour. It kicks off on June 18th, click the Ottawa Fringe Fest for dates, times and details. Future shows will take place at the Toronto (July) and Edmonton (August) Fringe Festivals.

CHICAGO – The tradition of the music salon goes as far back as 16th Century Italy, and is designed as a destination “either to please or to educate.” On May 7th, 2022, Soprano Kirsten Leslie Karadzhova and pianist Paul Dykstra will present the first Art Song Series at Dykstra’s “Salon des Artiste” music studio in the Fine Arts Building on Michigan Avenue in Chicago. In Memoriam: Merri Dee, Chicago Broadcasting Legend, Dies at 85

CHICAGO – She was a pioneer in a broadcasting business at a time when it was mostly white and male. The incomparable Merri Dee was a fixture in Chicago media beginning in the 1960s, breaking barriers as a black woman TV personality and newscaster. She passed away in Chicago on March 16th, 2022, at age 85.
