CHICAGO – Paramount Pictures has just released the HD teaser trailer for the new M. Night Shyamalan film “The Last Airbender,” which stars Jackson Rathbone, Nicola Peltz, Cliff Curtis, Dev Patel (from the Oscar-winning film “Slumdog Millionaire”), Noah Ringer, Jessica Andres, Seychelle Gabriel, Shaun Toub, Aasif Mandvi and Keong Sim.

“The Last Airbender” is slated to hit theaters on July 2, 2010. In addition to “The Last Airbender,” M. Night Shyamalan has also directed “The Happening,” “Lady in the Water,” “The Village,” “Signs,” “Unbreakable” and “The Sixth Sense”. Watch the new HD trailer for “The Last Airbender” below!

Here is “The Last Airbender” plot description:

Air. Water. Earth. Fire. Four nations are tied by destiny when the Fire Nation launches a brutal war against the others. A century has passed with no hope in sight to change the path of this destruction.

Caught between combat and courage, Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers he is the lone Avatar with the power to manipulate all four elements. Aang teams with Katara (Nicola Peltz), and her brother, Sokka (Jackson Rathbone), to restore balance to their war-torn world.

Based on the hugely successful Nickelodeon animated TV series, the live-action feature film “The Last Airbender” is the opening chapter in Aang’s struggle to survive.

YESSSS.

I’ve been waiting forever for imdb to update the status, since there are still a lot of rumors floating around about the cast.
But this trailer is keeping me grounded. I’m so excited it’s actually happening =] Jackson’s great, I’m sure he’ll be a hilarious Sokka. Lol.
Anyone else think they’re gonna go to the midnight showing / premire??

THEATER, TV, DVD & BLU-RAY REVIEWS

  • Operation: Endgame

CHICAGO – As someone who has often gone home with a straight-to-DVD action movie that I hadn’t heard of before entering the video store, I know how easy it is to get drawn into something that looks a little bit left-of-center. “Operation: Endgame” is undeniably unusual but that doesn’t mean it’s any good.

  • The Prowler

CHICAGO – When did all slasher pics from the early ’80s become “cult classics”? You will find very few people as well-versed in the sub-genre as this writer who will gladly contrast and compare “Friday the 13th” sequels or discuss the merits of “April Fool’s Day,” “Basket Case,” and “My Bloody Valentine.” And yet not every film from the era deserves a cult following merely because it has grisly deaths, some T&A, and a twist ending. For example, take “The Prowler,” now out on Blu-ray from the great Blue Underground.
