Activision Announces ‘Guitar Hero Greatest Hits,’ ‘Guitar Hero on Tour: Modern Hits’

CHICAGO – Activision sent over the news today about two new titles that are sure to get music game fans excited - “Guitar Hero Greatest Hits” and “Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits”. The two new titles in the “Guitar Hero” family will debut in June and we have screenshots and details on these newly announced games below.

“Guitar Hero Greatest Hits” will feature the most popular songs from previous “Guitar Hero” games now with drum tracks and vocals for “Guitar Hero World Tour” players. The title will be released for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, and PS2 this June and is in development by Beenox studios.

“Greatest Hits” will feature songs that previously appeared in “Guitar Hero,” “Guitar Hero II,” “Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s,” and “Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock”. Now you can play your favorite tracks from those best-selling games with epic, full band capability.

The new title features 48 master recordings and includes online and offline gameplay modes including Band Career and 8-player “Battle of the Bands,” allowing two full bands to compete head-to-head online. Check out the screenshots below.

Before we get to “Greatest Hits” screenshots, it wasn’t the only game in the “GH” family announced today. “Guitar Hero On Tour: Modern Hits” is coming to the Nintendo DS this June and is being developed by Vicarious Visions.

This new DS title will include a set list of 28 master tracks from artists including Coldplay, Fall Out Boy, Tenacious D, The Strokes, and Weezer. It will expand on the “On Tour” concept by introducing an all-new Fan Request system that challenges players to jam like never before.

For the first time ever, players can choose how they take their band from the underground music scene to worldwide rock stardom with exciting non-linear gameplay progression. Now you can take the “Guitar Hero” experience with you wherever you go.
