Film News: ‘Midwest Shorts’ Screens at Midwest Independent Film Festival on March 6, 2018

CHICAGO – Short films, in a society increasingly becoming attention challenged, are getting a new lease as an essential film showcase. The Midwest Independent Film Festival will highlight a “Midwest Shorts Program” for their second 2018 event on March 6th. 13 films are part of the line-up, including a World Premiere, a Festival Premiere, Two Chicago Premieres and a 2017 Sundance Film Festival Selection. The World Premiere, “A Tragedy,” also features David Pasquesi (“Veep”) and Tracy Letts (“Lady Bird”) and two “Chicago PDTV stars (Marina Squerciati and Amy Morton) highlight the Festival Premiere of “Light.” Pasquesi is also featured in the short “Ten More,” as a concert pianist recovering from a traumatic brain injury. The Midwest Independent Film Festival also features a pre-show Producers Panel and after party at the Avenue Tavern, 2916 North Broadway in Chicago.

The Midwest Independent Film Festival is a year-round movie event in Chicago that takes place the first Tuesday of every month, at the Landmark Century Centre Cinema. The festival has been recognized by Chicago Magazine in their “Best of Chicago” issue, and has become one of the top places for local filmmakers, producers and actors to network in the city.
