CHICAGO – Her latest book is “What Happened,” and much of the U.S. shares that sentiment. Hillary Rodham Clinton promoted that book in Chicago on Oct. 30, 2017. As a former First Lady, Senator, Secretary of State and the first woman to be a major party candidate in history, Ms. Clinton has served this country.

Hillary Diane Rodham was born in Edgewater Hospital in Chicago, and her family moved to nearby Park Ridge (Illinois) where she grew up. Inspired by the revolutionary changes of the 1960s, Ms. Clinton became an activist and law student at Yale University. There she met Bill Clinton, and the two married in 1975. She became First Lady of Arkansas when Bill was elected governor in 1979, and served in that capacity (after skipping a term) until 1992. It was that year that Bill Clinton ran for President of the United States, won that office, and served until 2001.

Hillary Clinton, with her deep knowledge and legal mind, became a valued advisor in the Bill Clinton administration, and began her solo career in politics by getting elected U.S. Senator for the State of New York in 2000 (re-elected 2006). Her first presidential run in 2008 was stifled in the primaries by Barack Obama, but she served honorably in his administration as Secretary of State, bringing down Osama Bin Laden during that time.

Her second run at the presidency in 2016 was even more historic, as she became the first woman in history to be nominated by a major party for the office. Her defeat in that election, spurred by a number of known and unknown factors, became the basis for her seventh book, “What Happened.”

  • Speech & Debate (stage play)

CHICAGO – “Speech & Debate,” the latest production from the mighty Brown Paper Box Company, continues their tradition of thinking outside that “box” in presenting storefront theater that makes a statement and a difference. “Speech” goes inside America by showcasing the outsiders… those who create art because they can’t get it right in real life. This non-equity Chicago stage play premiere is finely tuned and wonderfully acted, and runs through March 4th, 2018. Click here for more details, including ticket information.

  • We're Gonna Be Okay

CHICAGO – The 1960s were a time of historical social transition. The movements – civil rights, feminist, gay rights – all had roots in that tumultuous decade. The Chicago premiere of Basil Kreimendahl’s “We’re Gonna Be Okay” echoes all of those movements in its characters, and collides them against the October 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis. The show has a Thursday-Sunday run at the American Theater Company through March 4th, 2018. Click here for more details, including ticket information.
