CHICAGO – Put the 53rd Chicago International Film Festival in the books, as the spectacular Closing Night film was “The Shape of Water,” directed by Guillermo Del Toro, and featured Michael Shannon and Michael Stuhlbarg, who both walked the Red Carpet on October 26th, 2017, and was joined by producer Daniel Kraus.

“The Shape of Water” also features Sally Hawkins, Octavia Spencer and Richard Jenkins in a film set in America during the Cold War era of 1962. The film is a lyrical tribute to the movies themselves, and why we love them. Michael Shannon portrays Agent Strickland in the film, and Michael Stuhlbarg is Dr. Robert Hoffstetler. “The Shape of Water” won the Founder’s Award, presented by Michael Kutza, at the Festival. HollywoodChicago.com was on the Red Carpet, to interview the participants.

In the audio clip, Michael Shannon talks about the emotional roots of Chicago Theater, Michael Stuhlbarg ponders which movie in film history he would have liked to be in, and producer Daniel Kraus talks about the origin of “The Shape of Water.”
