CHICAGO – HollywoodChicago.com rings in the new with an Exclusive Portrait of Shay Mitchell, the up-and-coming actress in ABC Family’s “Pretty Little Liars.” Mitchell has also authored a novel called “Bliss,” and was in Chicagoland in October meeting her fans and signing the book at Anderson’s Bookshop in Naperville, Ill.

“Pretty Little Liars” is the popular TV show based on a series of young adult novels by Sara Shepard. It involves four friends – with Shay Mitchell portraying Emily Fields – as an outsider threatens to expose their deepest secrets. Often called “Desperate Housewives for teens,” the show outlived its initial 10 episode order in 2011 to continue to its seventh season and 130 episodes.

Shay Mitchell’s new book, “Bliss” (co-written with friend Michaela Blaney), is a veiled fictional account of her own life, as a Hollywood actress is auditioning by day and trying to figure out her life beyond that career. HollywoodChicago.com photographer Joe Arce was at the Anderson’s Bookshop during the Shay Mitchell book signing event, and took this Exclusive Portrait of the actress.

“Bliss,” by Shay Mitchell and Michaela Blaney, is available at Anderson’s Bookshop or wherever books are sold.
