The Midwest Independent Film Festival was founded in 2004 by Mike McNamara (also Festival Director) and Michael Kwielford. Each year, the monthly first Tuesday happening – taking place at Landmark Century Centre Cinema at Clark and Diversey in Chicago – has gotten larger and more influential, and culminates every year with the Best of the Midwest Awards. It has also become a vital networking gathering, as producers, directors, actors and film fans get together for each screening. Filmmakers from eight Midwestern states have participated over the years, as the festival prides itself on spotlighting films and filmmakers from the region.
Kicking off 2014 and their 10th Anniversary, the Midwest Indie will showcase “Adventures in the Sin Bin,” a teen comedy patterned after the classic Billy Wilder film, “The Apartment..” Brian (Michael Seater) is an awkward teen at an exclusive prep school, who enjoys unexpected popularity because he owns a van – his new “friends” wants to use it for dates. It also features Emily Meade, Bo Burham, Jeff Garlin and Tim Blake Nelson.
