2 Broke Girls

What to Watch: Sept. 24-30, 2013 – TV Edition

Doctor Who S7

CHICAGO – There’s too much TV being released on Blu-ray, DVD, and streaming services this time of year to watch it all. There literally aren’t enough hours in the day. So how do you work through it all, find what you want to watch, and set it aside for you valuable free time? What to Watch, once again this week split into two editions — one focusing on TV and the other on film. We’ll start with the boob tube one, which features a cult hit, two animated shows, a multiple Emmy winner, and one of CBS’s biggest comedies. In the order that we’d recommend you buy ‘em…

TV News: CBS Struggles on Most Competitive Night of the Week

Partners

CHICAGO – “Dancing with the Stars,” “The Voice,” “Castle,” “2 Broke Girls,” “How I Met Your Mother,” “Hawaii Five-O,” “Bones,” “Revolution” — Monday nights have officially become the most crowded and competitive night of the week. And, as is often the case when a night gets overcrowded, ratings dropped across the board last night, the first official night of the Fall TV season.

Blu-ray Review: Strong Actresses Carry First Season of ‘2 Broke Girls’

2 Broke Girls

CHICAGOCBS’s “2 Broke Girls,” which recently had its first season released on Blu-ray and DVD courtesy of Warner Bros., isn’t about to break the mold of TV comedy. There are some sitcoms that try something new and there are others that merely fit a pattern. There’s nothing wrong with that. We’ve had buddy comedies since they started making sitcoms and while “2 Broke Girls” may be little more than a “Laverne & Shirley” update, it is well-done enough to make its familiarity easy to overlook.

TV News: CBS Moves ‘Two and a Half Men’ to Thursdays, Launches Four New Shows

CHICAGO – In the most interesting scheduling move of the Fall 2012 TV announcements, CBS is going to move “Two and a Half Men” to Thursday nights following “The Big Bang Theory.”

TV News: CBS Renews 18 Shows Including ‘The Good Wife,’ ‘Blue Bloods’

2 Broke Girls

CHICAGO – America’s #1 TV network showed a sign of their force today by renewing EIGHTEEN programs from their reliable hits to shows that many considered to be on the bubble. The renewals include four comedies, nine dramas, three reality series, and two newsmagazines and include programs that currently air on every night of the week. CBS really is in charge.

TV Feature: Fall 2011 New Network Series Bubble Watch

CHICAGO – It feels like only yesterday that we were naming the most promising shows of 2011 (and would like to point out that our #1 was the first program given a full-season order for just one second).

TV News: NBC Cancels Failed Comedy ‘Free Agents’

Free Agents

CHICAGONBC continues to be a network in ratings freefall (pretty much since “The Jay Leno Show” debacle) as they can now lay claim to not only the first show canceled in the Fall 2011 season (after axing “The Playboy Club” earlier this week) but the second as well. It was reported this afternoon that after last night’s anemic numbers for the third episode of “Free Agents,” a fourth episode won’t see the air.

TV News: ‘Terra Nova,’ ‘Hart of Dixie’ Ratings Disappoint; ‘2 Broke Girls’ Still Kicking

Terra Nova

CHICAGO – The new FOX prehistoric series “Terra Nova” was a bit of a disappointment in its premiere episode Monday night, posting a 3.1 rating in the highly coveted 18-49 age group. The show premiered for two hours from 7-9 p.m. CST.

TV News: ‘Two and a Half Men’ Destroys Ratings, ‘The Playboy Club’ Bombs

Two and a Half Men Kutcher

CHICAGO – Well, that was predictable. As expected, audiences were curious about how “Two and a Half Men” would handle the departure of Charlie Sheen and the arrival of Ashton Kutcher. The most important demo numbers aren’t in yet but the overall household ratings (the first numbers released) were ludicrously high with season premiere numbers for the CBS hit that doubled last year’s first episode.
