CHICAGO – Shout Factory has become a spectacular DVD studio for a mix of unexpected releases. They have their stable of classic TV but they also own the rights to some modern favorites which leads to unique box sets like “The Sarah Silverman Program: The Complete Series.” Comedy Central gave up on the cult hit after three seasons and so parent company Paramount decided to also give up on releasing the accompanying DVD reviews. The third season was released by Shout Factory last week and the other three releases from Paramount (season two was split into two volumes) have been compiled into one box set.

Sarah Silverman is crazy talented. She has a unique comedic voice and it’s a shame that Comedy Central couldn’t find a way to turn that talent into a mega-hit. “The Sarah Silverman Program” may have never taken off like “Chappelle’s Show” but it does have a loyal following that should be very happy for the chance to have all 32 original episodes in one box set even if it is a little crazy that less than 20 hours of programming takes up so much shelf space (it’s the size of four standard DVD cases). Oh well, minor complaint for a funny show.

Synopsis:
Step into the adorably deranged world of Sarah Silverman as she goes about her life, which on any given day can include taking in a homeless man, exploring her sexuality, suing Home Alone the movie or attempting to marry her dog Doug. Along with her sister Laura (Laura Silverman), geeky gay neighbors Brian and Steve (Brian Posehn and Steve Agee) and Officer Jay (Jay Johnston), Sarah manages to fall into some pretty unique, sometimes unsettling and always hilarious predicaments. But no matter how weird, wonky or just plain wrong things get, she always manages to land right side up in her upside-down world.
