Man on Ledge

On vacation a few summers ago I found myself alone in the deep end of a hotel pool and couldn’t get any closer to the surface than a foot. I didn’t have time to see my life flash by. All I could think about was surviving. On what may have been my last breath, I told myself to concentrate and make a final “go for it.” A rush of energy propelled me just high enough to grab the pool edge. Life was never clearer than that moment on the edge.

Edge

As someone struggling with depression, yes, all the time. I wish I could know what it feels like to say no.

ummm Well

Summer 2010 was a horrible time for me. I got my car stolen and then 3 weeks later, my apt caught on fire. I woke up to a hot blaze in front of my window. I lost about 80% of my things. Still trying to get back to normal. I am glad nobody was hurt though.

On the edge

I think living in this crazy world and waking up the next morning is living on the edge.

On the edge

I was once pushed to the edge. Back in school I was bullied. One day I had chance to get revenge and I took it. Needless to say nobody got hurt, only a couple of windows and tires. I felt better after that.

"Man on a Ledge" Free Movie Screening Passes for 01/26/2012 @ 7p

Monday, January 23, 2012 @ 10:00 am

This is my second attempt at establishing my request, the first was two days ago on Saturday. There were error messages and my comment was not accepted.

Life has so much to offer, both good and bad. As complex and resourceful as we humans are, with our emotionally charged and often competitive search for meaning, improvement, or even greatness, deciding on how to find our niche in the world can be terribly stressful, requiring periodic changes in our approaches along life’s journey. The results of our inner emotional struggles around how we view ourselves in certain situations and life overall, often push us to the point when we reconsider the dichotomy between the traditionally safer or “good” choices we’ve made and compare them with new riskier or “bad” directions we may wish to take. As such, if only in thought or conversation with a good friend, we have all seriously considered the pros and cons of stepping over the edge regarding those riskier ways of handling our need for change. When this need becomes heightened, most often during very stressful times or when we become highly excited about the hope of optimising our experiences and overall existence, this teetering propels us to either break through our comfort zones to the unknown or remain stagnate until more insight ensues.
