Here is the plot description for “Blackthorn”:

It’s been said (but unsubstantiated) that Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid were killed in a standoff with the Bolivian military in 1908. In “Blackthorn,” Cassidy (Sam Shepard) survived and is quietly living out his years under the name James Blackthorn in a secluded Bolivian village.

Tired of his long exile from the U.S. and hoping to see his family again before he dies, Cassidy sets out on the long journey home. But when an unexpected encounter with an ambitious young criminal (Eduardo Noriega) derails his plans, he is thrust into one last adventure that he hasn’t experienced since his glory days with the Sundance Kid.

The movie trailer for “Blackthorn” can be watched now below.

Butch Cassidy

Consider he’s said to have died in the year 1908 I doubt it anyway he’s still be alive today. But that being said. Legends never die.

I think he died in an ambush, or trying to escape.

How?

I don’t think he died in South America, like people used to say. I think he faked his death and moved off to the mountains somewhere and just lived off the land till he died of old age.

I think so nobody would be alive in that ambush in Bolivia
