Here is the plot description for “50/50”:

Inspired by personal experiences, “50/50” is an original story about friendship, love, survival and finding humor in unlikely places. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen star as best friends whose lives are changed by a cancer diagnosis. Rogen also serves as producer along with Evan Goldberg and Ben Karlin. Jonathan Levine directs from a script by Will Reiser.

“We worked with Will on ‘Da Ali G Show’ and it was shortly after that we learned he was sick.” Rogen recalls. “As shocking, sad, confusing and generally screwed up as it was, we couldn’t ignore that – because we were so ill-equipped to deal with the situation – funny things kept happening. Will got better, and when he did, we thought the best way to pull something good out of the situation was to get him to write a screenplay.”

Rogen added: “Ideally we wanted to make a film that would be as funny, sad and hopefully as honest as the experience we went through. As soon as the script was completed, it quickly became a passion project for all of us. It helped us come to terms with Will’s struggle as well as our own experiences.”

“50/50” is the story of a guy’s transformative and, yes, sometimes funny journey to health. “50/50” draws its emotional core from Will Reiser’s own experience with cancer. The film reminds us that friendship and love – no matter what bizarre turns they take – are the greatest healers.

Cancer

I lost my sister to breast cancer two years ago. It’s made me much more aware of how bad this disease can be.

Cancer

My husband and I lost his stepmother this past Christmas to Ovarian Cancer. It was the most heartbreaking thing thing I ever watched. Life is sometimes allot shorter than we hope for but she lived her life to the fullest and was kind and loving to everyone that crossed her path. We all try to live by her example now and not take a second for granted.

Unfortunately my grandfather died from cancer a few years ago. It was so hard to see him go from a healthy man to a sickly skinny man.

Seems cancer is becoming

Seems cancer is becoming unavoidable - last year my diagnosis was skin cancer, the year before my aunt was treated for breast cancer, a good friend of mine for lymphoma. Facing those situations has made me much more aware of the important things in life.

Live Like We're Dying

Luckily neither i or my family have experienced Cancer. I know there is many types of cancer and which ever cancer is, i know at some level it is very hard to go thorough. During my senior year in high school, a group of students in school was involved in raising money for cancer research. I was honored to be part of it during the program i met wonderful people who went through Cancer and had survived it. I was touched by the words of a person would told me people should live their lived like it was our last day/ or we’re dying. Everyday someone might wake up and wish he/she had a different life or a better car or a house but we never realize those who only want a life and a second chance at life.

My Dad

Two years ago my father was diagnosed with prostate cancer. Having lost both of his parents to cancer, he was scared. We all were. But he found one of the best surgeons in the area and got his prostate removed. After some complications that followed the surgery, my father fully recovered. He beat the odds, and we’re so grateful that he did.
