Here is the plot description for “50/50”:
Inspired by personal experiences, “50/50” is an original story about friendship, love, survival and finding humor in unlikely places. Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Seth Rogen star as best friends whose lives are changed by a cancer diagnosis. Rogen also serves as producer along with Evan Goldberg and Ben Karlin. Jonathan Levine directs from a script by Will Reiser.
“We worked with Will on ‘Da Ali G Show’ and it was shortly after that we learned he was sick.” Rogen recalls. “As shocking, sad, confusing and generally screwed up as it was, we couldn’t ignore that – because we were so ill-equipped to deal with the situation – funny things kept happening. Will got better, and when he did, we thought the best way to pull something good out of the situation was to get him to write a screenplay.”
Rogen added: “Ideally we wanted to make a film that would be as funny, sad and hopefully as honest as the experience we went through. As soon as the script was completed, it quickly became a passion project for all of us. It helped us come to terms with Will’s struggle as well as our own experiences.”
“50/50” is the story of a guy’s transformative and, yes, sometimes funny journey to health. “50/50” draws its emotional core from Will Reiser’s own experience with cancer. The film reminds us that friendship and love – no matter what bizarre turns they take – are the greatest healers.

Cancer
I’m 28 and 11 years ago I was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. 10 years ago December I went into remission. :)

I have had a few people that were close to me that had Cancer and it has effected my life by trying to do treat all people better.
How has cancer touched your life or the life of someone you know
Fortunately, I do not know of anyone that has/had cancer. My mom had a close bout of skin cancer but they were able to remove it before it became serious.
My mother had me when she
My mother had me when she was very young. So, we lived with her parents. Essentially, my grandparents raised me. My grandmother was diagnosed with cancer when I was eight years old and eventually lost her life to it a year later. I think of my grandmother every day.
Cancer
My grandfather died of cancer just over a year ago.
Friend’s mother had it &
Friend’s mother had it & beat it. Friend’s friend had it & beat it. I guess I’m lucky.
50/50
My sister’s long-time friend from high school was diagnosed with breast cancer a couple of year’s ago, and I think she’s now concerned with life passing too fast and how life might have been lived differently.

Cancer
I know someone very close to me who has oral cancer and it’s really sad that I can’t help him. Being able to eat is so much of a natural thing to do and he will never be able to do it again. He currently uses a feeding tube.
My aunt passed away of
My aunt passed away of cancer and it unfortunately took that to bring our family closer. Wish we had all realized the benefits of closeness earlier.
