Here is the plot description for “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark”:

Blackwood Manor has new tenants. While architect Alex Hurst (Guy Pearce) and his new girlfriend Kim (Katie Holmes) restore their Gothic mansion’s period interiors, Alex’s young daughter Sally (Bailee Madison) – neglected by her real mother and brushed aside by the careerist father – can investigate the macabre history and dark corners of the estate.

Spurring Sally’s investigation are the voices: rasping whispers who call out to her from the basement, who promise her understanding and friendship, who are so very hungry and would like to be set free. When Sally gives in to her curiosity, she opens a gateway into a hellish underworld from which an army of beady-eyed, sharp-clawed monsters emerge small in size but endless in number: the homunculi.

Confronted with the horror that now threatens to take her life and destroy her family, Sally desperately tries to warn the whole house. There’s just one problem: no one believes her. Will she make them understand in time or will they become another chapter in the centuries-long horror story of Blackwood Manor?

Based on the 1973 telefilm that Guillermo del Toro believes to be the scariest TV production ever made, “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” was co-written and co-produced by del Toro and directed by Troy Nixey. Akin to “Pan’s Labyrinth,” “Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark” focuses on a young girl’s struggle against menacing and terrifying forces.

The Exorcist

No movie magic. No CGI. No computer-generated [whatever]. The Exorcist is the scariest movie I’ve ever seen. Runner up: Jaws. I still can’t put so much as my toe in open water (or closed water). Jaws is alive and well and waiting for me to go swimming. Never gonna happen!

The Exorcist is the scariest

The Exorcist is the scariest movie of all time for me. At the time my parents were on a religion kick trying to get me to go to church and had me watch it when I was young and told me it was all true. To make matters worse we just moved to a house that traffic shook the floors so I always thought satan was coming for me when I was in bed.

Scariest Movie

For me, it was Paranormal Activity.

I watched it when it was far from home (when it was only showing in college towns at the time). I drove 300+ miles round trip to go to a midnight show that went through a dark highway, a college town (after dark), and a very late night. I made me paranoid and creeped out. That only was expounded by my equally creepy apartment at the time (to this day I still haven’t figured out what those noises were).

Scariest Movie of All time

I think that for me the scariest movie of all time would be “IT”. Pennywise the clown/spider thing just makes looking at clowns in a whole new light. I keep picturing those sharp teeth.

Storm of The Century by Steven King. It’s a long movie, but worth the time.

Exorcist Remake

I’ve never seen the original Exorcist movie. I’ve only seen the remake; however, the scene with the the girl walking up the stairs really spooked me out.

Scary Movie

It has to be an old movie called the Uninvited. Something about a old black and white movie and the scent of Mimosa that can scare you.
