The film’s original title is “Le hérisson”. “The Hedgehog” stars Josiane Balasko, Garance Le Guillermic, Togo Igawa, Anne Brochet, Ariane Ascaride, Wladimir Yordanoff, Sarah Lepicard, Jean-Luc Porraz and Gisèle Casadesus from writer and director Mona Achache based on the novel by Muriel Barbery.

Here is the plot description for “The Hedgehog”:

Inspired by the best-selling book “The Elegance of the Hedgehog,” “The Hedgehog” is the story of Paloma (Garance Le Guillermic): a young girl chronicling the hypocrisy of the adult world with her video camera. When Paloma begins to learn about life from grumpy building concierge Renée Michel (Josiane Balasko), she begins to understand that there are allies to be found beneath the prickliest of exteriors.

The Music Box Theatre announces the inaugural edition of the Chicago French Film Festival: a three-day celebration of the best in contemporary French cinema. The festival will showcase recent French box-office successes and hit films from the Cannes, Toronto and Tribeca film festivals.

The festival is pleased to welcome two special guests: Jean-Pierre Améris (director of the opening-night feature “Romantics Anonymous”) and Josiane Balasko (star of the closing-night feature “The Hedgehog”).

Other highlights include the festival centerpiece “Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life,” which is based on the life of singer/songwriter Serge Gainsbourg. Tickets are now available. Save $40 with the all-festival pass. More information can be found here.
