The film’s original title is “Les émotifs anonymes”. “Romantics Anonymous” from writer and director Jean-Pierre Améris stars Benoît Poelvoorde, Isabelle Carré, Lorella Cravotta, Lise Lamétrie, Swann Arlaud, Pierre Niney and Stéphan Wojtowicz. Director Jean-Pierre Améris will be at this Music Box Theatre showing in person!

Here is the plot description for “Romantics Anonymous” from the Tribeca Film Festival:

This delectable comedy tells the story of Angélique (Isabelle Carré): a gifted chocolate maker with a lifelong case of uncontrollable shyness. Jean-René (Benoît Poelvoorde) suffers from a similar case of terminal abashment and runs a fledgling chocolate company in desperate need of a new direction. When the two nervous Nellies meet, they are forced to fess up to their sweet affections for each other.

Information follows about the Chicago French Film Festival at the Music Box Theatre:

The Music Box Theatre announces the inaugural edition of the Chicago French Film Festival: a three-day celebration of the best in contemporary French cinema. The festival will showcase recent French box-office successes and hit films from the Cannes, Toronto and Tribeca film festivals.

The festival is pleased to welcome two special guests: Jean-Pierre Améris (director of the opening-night feature “Romantics Anonymous”) and Josiane Balasko (star of the closing-night feature “The Hedgehog”).

Other highlights include the festival centerpiece “Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life,” which is based on the life of singer/songwriter Serge Gainsbourg. Tickets are now available. Save $40 with the all-festival pass. More information can be found here.
