How Captain America Got his Name-Julie Ivik
The U.S. Government gave Steve Rogers a costume based on the American flag, an unbreakable shield (given to him by President Franklin Roosevelt), a sidearm, and named Captain America. From that point on, Steve Rogers was Captain America—he impressed Army recruiters and trainers by his desire/ dream to fight for America although he was rejected to enter U.S. Army d/t his physical frailty and classified as 4-F. Once he became Captain America he was stationed on an army base in Virginia serving as private Steve Rogers (he was the first/only man to whom the Super-Soldier Formula would be administered by Dr. Abraham Erskine who after admin. formula was killed).

The U.S government, disappointed at the loss of their planned super soldier army were determined to use Rogers to his fullest potential. To this end, they decided to use him as a superhero to fight the Nazis; to become a symbol of freedom and hope against Nazi forces as well as a counter-intelligence agent. He also would be their answer to and main weapon against the leader of the Nazi terrorist operations - the Red Skull.
