“Beats Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest” is a documentary film directed by Michael Rapaport about one of the most influential and groundbreaking musical groups in hip-hop history.

Having released five gold- and platinum-selling albums within eight years, A Tribe Called Quest has been one of the most commercially successful and artistically significant musical groups in recent history. Favorite

My Favorite is the Beatles, but that is only because of their harmonies. They came out before my time and were the most influential band, but Tribe was able to recreate the feel of positive music and wonderful harmonies in a modern way. They are of my generation and I’m excited about this film.

Fave of all time!!

MJB all day!! It is something about the heart she puts into her music. You can tell she means what she sings. The highs and lows she has experienced and felt. MAry J Blige has gotten me through a lot of good times and bad times. Her music soothes me.

Pet Shop Boys Rule!

I am going to think outside the box and go with Pet Shop Boys, the famous New Wave electronic duo from England. Neil Tennant is the voice and more erudite of the two while Chris Lowe is the mischevious and mysterious keyboardist with a devil may care attitude. Their lyrics really speak to me and their videos are ground-breaking.

TV, DVD, BLU-RAY & THEATER REVIEWS

  • Bad Words

Looming over “Bad Words” is the potential it could have had, as is, were it released ten years ago. With its focus of R-rated behavior poking at the projected innocence of children, along with the couple of chromosomes that keep Bateman’s Trilby from being a Vince Vaughn character, this movie is certainly a product of the comedies that have sculpted out the manchild story in the past decade.

  • Winter's Tale

The theatrical poster for “Winter’s Tale,” after promising that “It’s not a true story, it’s a love story,” made a large demand from its viewers at the bottom: “This Valentine’s Day, Believe In Miracles.” While there is indeed a difference between filmmaking and marketing, it is hard to not imagine writer/director Akiva Goldsman whispering “believe in miracles” into the ear of every executive who helped “Winter’s Tale” come to life, immediately after throwing glitter on them.
