Here is the plot description for “Beautiful Boy”:

“Beautiful Boy” is an unconventional love story that explores the journey of a married couple on the verge of separation. They must turn to each other to overcome unimaginable heartbreak as well as brave the intense media scrutiny following their son’s shocking act of violence. Bill (Michael Sheen) and Kate’s (Maria Bello) already strained marriage is tested as they realize all they have left with each other is their shared grief and confusion along with the unfortunate legacy of their son.

While they struggle numbly through the media onslaught and the awkward pity from relatives and friends, the life-altering event forces Bill and Kate to face their feelings of guilt, rage, blame, self-discovery and ultimately hope so they can finally see each other and their chance for happiness again with clear eyes.

Moving On After Tragic Loss of Child

A lot of prayer, supporting each other, and the help of good family and friends. Counseling and support groups can also be of benefit.

Hell of a question

To be honest. I don’t know. I pray that I don’t live long enough to experience that.

Beautiful boy

I believe parents must look each other in the eye, bluntly face the horrific reality of the loss of their child and make a commitment to support each other as their life has taken a sudden curve

How can parents get on with life, and each other, after the loss

I personally can not see myself living! But I think it will be a hard and painful life maybe if they find meaning and help others in the name of that child life might get easier!

Coping

I’m not an expert in such matters, but I would hope the parents have friends and family that are supportive and loving. It must be really devastating to suffer such a tragic loss; I wouldn’t know what I would do. Perhaps after enough time passes by for mourning, people will decide to either move on with their life or to fall deeper into their depression. I think it really depends on the strength of the parents’ character and their will to move on and live life.
