CHICAGO – As we’ve been reporting, “The Dark Knight Rises” has officially begun filming at the Farmiloe Building on St. John Street in London. Filming is scheduled to continue at this location until May 21, 2011. While sources tell us this is a closed set, we can see surrounding set photos.

On Monday, ComicBookMovie.com says the London set was “a hive of activity with the standard large trucks parked around housing the technical equipment and various fluorescent-jacketed stewards and lanyard-wearing staff walking about”.

The first photo shows the publicly posted filming sign. The second photo was submitted to HollywoodChicago.com by a source in London. Photos three through seven and 11 show filming equipment. Photos eight through 10 show a SWAT vehicle for the Gotham Police Department.

“The Dark Knight Rises” will again star Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne, Gary Oldman as Jim Gordon, Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox and Michael Caine as Alfred. The film also stars Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, Juno Temple, Josh Pence, Diego Klattenhoff and Alon Aboutboul. Nestor Carbonell and Daniel Sunjata are currently rumored to be involved.

The film, which is again directed by Christopher Nolan, is scheduled for release on July 20, 2012. “The Dark Knight Rises” is written by David S. Goyer (story), Bob Kane (characters), Christopher Nolan (screenplay), Christopher Nolan (story) and Jonathan Nolan (screenplay) with original music from Hans Zimmer and cinematography by Wally Pfister.

The following information was submitted to HollywoodChicago.com by a source known as Courage Under Fire.

Courage Under Fire here. Security has told me if we want to see something we should come after 2 p.m. tomorrow (Wednesday). They said we would most likely see something. I reckon the big action sequence will be tomorrow (Wednesday) afternoon.

Chris Nolan came out on Monday at 2 p.m. to sign autographs. Also, Diego Klattenhoff was sighted today (Tuesday) wearing a blue Gotham Police Department uniform. This is 100% confirmed by crew on his way to lunch.
