CHICAGO – Kevin Reilly, President of Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company, announced this morning in advance of next week’s unveiling of the FOX fall schedule that “House” will return for an eighth season despite rumors of a potential network switch to NBC.

The ratings on “House” are still strong and it seemed like an inevitable lock for a renewal but the program is produced by Universal, who also own NBC, and so there were rumors, first spread by EW that the program could make a network jump. Such is not the case and the show will likely be right back where it was this season on Monday nights in the fall. We’ll know for sure when it will air on Monday, May 16th, 2011.

Reilly said, “Over the past seven seasons, HOUSE has redefined the medical drama and has given us one of television’s most compelling and iconic characters. From the producers to the incredible writers to the unbelievably talented cast and crew, the HOUSE team is fearless in its creativity and I can’t wait to see what they have in store next year.

“House” stars Hugh Laurie, Olivia Wilde, Jesse Spencer, Peter Jacobson, Lisa Edelstein, Omar Epps, and Robert Sean Leonard. It airs on Monday nights at 7pm CST.
