Here is the plot description for “The Adjustment Bureau”:
Do we control our destiny or do unseen forces manipulate us? Matt Damon stars in the thriller “The Adjustment Bureau” as a man who glimpses the future fate has planned for him and realizes he wants something else. To get it, he must pursue the only woman he’s ever loved across, under and through the streets of modern-day New York.
On the brink of winning a seat in the U.S. Senate, ambitious politician David Norris (Damon) meets beautiful contemporary ballet dancer Elise Sellas (Emily Blunt). She’s a woman like none he’s ever known. But just as he realizes he’s falling for her, mysterious men conspire to keep the two apart.
David learns he is up against the agents of fate itself – the men of The Adjustment Bureau – who will do everything in their considerable power to prevent David and Elise from being together. In the face of overwhelming odds, he must either let her go and accept a predetermined path or risk everything to defy fate and be with her.
“The Adjustment Bureau” is written for the screen and directed by George Nolfi (writer of “Ocean’s Twelve” and co-writer of “The Bourne Ultimatum”). It is based on a short story by Philip K. Dick (“Total Recall,” “Minority Report” and “Blade Runner”).

Our Fate
We have free will and therefore we can control our own fate. This movie looks freakin awesome!
Yes. There are finite
Yes. There are finite possibilities, but we absolutely have control over where we go within those.
fate
That’s a hard one. I think about this often. I believe we have a road to travel and every now and then we are presented with a crossroad, and we need to choose which way to turn. Sometimes the way we choose to turn is not the best choice, however a lesson learn’t.
And we are forever travelling on a neverending road making decisions which are presented to us.
Yes I think we do, well ..
Yes I think we do, well .. apart from the things that occur in life naturally or unexpectedly.. sometimes good sometimes bad.. those can obviously change then direction we were planning.
But other than that.. yeah I think we control the direction our lives take
I think we TRY to control
I think we TRY to control our destiny, but that at the end of the day our lives are all mapped out for us.
I think some of it is
I think some of it is innate…some is environmental and sometimes things just happen (good or bad). Poor decisions will always get you in trouble though.
if you look at your gas
if you look at your gas gauge and its on E and you choose to not stop and fill the tank ..then you run out of gas.. this would obviously not have happened had you filled up so the end result your stuck in the middle of nowhere ….This could have been altered…so like I say to a degree….
there are choices that one can make that can alter the outcome of destiny…
Free will
A man acts with free will creating his own destiny and fate. So Yes.
Sorta
We have free will and what not but so many variable influence the trajectories of our lives. We don’t control our fate we just violently nudge it.
Do we control our own fate?
No, we don’t control our own fate. God does. But we are responsible for discovering it and bringing it to pass.
