CHICAGO – With most TV on DVD releases now scheduled for August and September, how does one buyer work through all of the options? We’ve covered a number of the choices in recent weeks (and have a few more planned next week) along reviews of every new series, but it’s easy for some titles to fall through the cracks, especially for shows that might not have the cultural cachet they once did.

Here’s where the wildly-popular DVD Round-Up comes in. The fact is that there’s not much critically worth saying about programs releasing their fifth season or later on standard-only DVD. NO ONE is starting there “Desperate Housewives” collection with season six or “Scrubs” with the “The Complete And Final Ninth Season.” For the record, Laurence Fishburne doesn’t fit right on the otherwise-solid “C.S.I.,” “Desperate Housewives” stopped being interesting in 2006, and “Scrubs” had one of the most beautiful series finales ever until they made the bone-headed decision to come back for their weakest season by a long stretch and end not with a bang but with a whimper. Their creators know that these sets are for-the-fans releases only but we wanted to make sure you knew they were out there just in case you are one.

“Desperate Housewives” was released on Tuesday, September 21st, 2010.

C.S.I.” and “Scrubs” will be released on Tuesday, September 28th, 2010.
