Today as I watching the NFL playoffs, I saw a commercial for ‘Commanche Moon.’ I could not believe that Val Kilmer was doing television work, so I checked IMDB.com and I found something else more intresting. Slated for a 2009 release, the sequel for ‘Heat’ is being developed as a video game. IMDB.com reports that the three main actors: De Niro, Pacino, Kilmer, are in negotiations to reprise their roles. With Michael Mann as the writer. I am a big fan of video games and movies, and I feel that this should not see daylight. A big part of intrest for the developers is giving people the chance to participate in the bank shootout and other heist that be part of the continuing story line.

Wow

Am I wrong for thinking that Michael Mann is the biggest cinematic talent to get behind a video game? Cameron’s got a big Avatar video game planned, supposedly, and I know Peter Jackson did some extensive work with King Kong and LotR. But still.

I still side with Ebert on the whole video-games-aren’t-art debate:

And this makes me feel old.

They’re doing the same

They’re doing the same thing with Ghost Busters. Are video games the big new thing for sequels?
