You might have seen the story about Roger Avary being arrested for suspicions of driving under the influence after he was involved in a wreck that killed a passenger and injured his wife:

Other outlets reported the possibility of a manslaughter charge.

I wasn’t going to post anything about this, since it sounded still vague and salacious, and especially because the blogosphere turns into irresponsible speculators grabbing over small bits of preliminary information. But now that the news is hitting second cycle, responses are coming out.

Dave Poland spoke to producer/friend, Don Murphy, who wrote, “We spoke this morning. Gretchen [Avary] and he will be fine. I would be surprised if he is prosecuted. That road is a winding, unlit dirt road (yes I have been on it).”

Also, Neil Gaiman blogged about Avary, “who, it’s probably worth mentioning, I’ve known well for over a decade, and who barely drinks.”
