Will Smith re-teams with the makers of The Pursuit of Happyness for the powerful and provocative new drama SEVEN POUNDS, available on Blu-ray High-Def, DVD and PSP this March 31, 2009, from Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. This inspiring tale about one man’s quest to better the lives of seven strangers features a top notch supporting cast, including Rosario Dawson (Eagle Eye, Sin City) and Woody Harrelson (No Country For Old Men, The People vs. Larry Flynt), and heartfelt direction by Gabriele Muccino, who previously helmed Will Smith’s The Pursuit of Happyness. Smith gives another riveting performance here that’s destined to entertain, move and perhaps change the lives of viewers everywhere when it arrives on Blu-ray, DVD and PSP.

SEVEN POUNDS also stars Michael Ealy (TV’s “Sleeper Cell,” Barbershop 2) and Barry Pepper (The Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan). It was written by Grant Nieporte, whose work on the film received a 2008 Golden Satellite nomination for Best Original Screenplay.

Synopsis

Will Smith reunites with the director and producers of The Pursuit of Happyness for the emotional drama SEVEN POUNDS. In the film, Smith plays Ben Thomas, an IRS agent with a fateful secret who embarks on an extraordinary journey of redemption by forever changing the lives of seven strangers.

SEVEN POUNDS was produced by Todd Black (The Great Debaters, The Pursuit of Happyness), Jason Blumenthal (The Pursuit of Happyness, The Weather Man), James Lassiter (Hancock, I Am Legend), Steve Tisch (The Pursuit of Happyness, The Weather Man) and Will Smith (Lakeview Terrace, Hancock). It was released by Columbia Pictures and has a run time of approximately 118 minutes. It has been rated PG-13 for thematic material, some disturbing content and a scene of sensuality.
