Synopsis

“Cadillac Records” chronicles the rise of Leonard Chess’ (Adrien Brody) Chess Records and its recording artists including Muddy Waters (Jeffrey Wright), Little Walter (Columbus Short), Chuck Berry (Mos Def), Willie Dixon (Cedric The Entertainer) and the great Etta James (Beyoncé Knowles). In this tale of sex, violence, race and rock and roll in Chicago of the 1950s and 60s, the film follows the exciting but turbulent lives of some of America’s greatest musical legends.

Cadillac Records features an all-star supporting cast, including Cedric the Entertainer (Barbershop, Madagascar), Columbus Short (This Christmas, Stomp the Yard), Emmanuelle Chriqui (You Don’t Mess With the Zohan, TV’s “Entourage”), Eamonn Walker (Lord of War, TV’s “Oz”), Gabrielle Union (The Perfect Holiday, Daddy’s Little Girls) and Mos Def (The Italian Job, Brown Sugar). Its soundtrack includes the 2008 Golden Globe® nominated song “Once in a Lifetime,” performed by Beyoncé Knowles. The film was released by TriStar Pictures and has a run time of approximately 109 minutes. The film is rated R for pervasive language and some sexuality. Cadillac Records was written and directed by Darnell Martin, whose previous credits include the Emmy® nominated television movie “Their Eyes Were Watching God,” starring Halle Berry, and the feature film I Like It Like That, for which she received the prestigious New York Film Critics Circle Award for Best New Director in 1995. In addition, Ms. Martin has directed episodes of such popular television series as “E.R.”,”Grey’s Anatomy” and “Law & Order.”
