Call to action: Chicago businessman Phil Tadros to run for Congress, accumulating signatures by Jan. 18, 2009
Chicago businessman Phil Tadros is planning to run for Congress in the fifth Congressional district of Chicago. To do so, he’s accumulating signatures by Jan. 18, 2009. He said today:
Last night, I decided to run for Congress. I have three stores in Uptown, Lincoln Park and Lakeview. This is something I want to do. I want to problem solve bigger communities with smart people around me.
Can I get on the ticket? I need 927 signatures in five days. I hope so. With your help, I’m pretty sure we can. If you want me on the ticket and want to help, I’d really appreciate it. More information about this district is here.
We already have around 100 signatures in one day. Shops are supporting us and leaving packets to sign on the counters at places like Bourgeois Pig, Metropolis, Crips, Soup Box, Sushi Mon, Pasta Bowl, Noble Tree, Dollop, Haystack, Threadless and more.
Phil would be up against fierce competition in a district that already has a few favorites, but he’s among the most worthy of a community activist I can think of to make it on the ticket. He’s selfless, humble and a giver who genuinely wants others to thrive around him.
Wikipedia has this to say about Phil Tadros. If you like the sound of this kind of Congressman, stop by any of the above-listed shops in Chicago and leave your signature. His Web site for this campaign can be found here.
