The word on Darren Aronofsky's "bird"

The best moment of last night’s Golden Globe Awards came during Mickey Rourke’s acceptance speech after winning Best Actor for “The Wrestler,” which was directed by Darren Aronofsky.

After chastising Aronofsky for being “one tough son of a bitch,” the camera turned to the director, who magnificently flipped Rourke the magic bird.

I interviewed Aronofsky during the Chicago International Film Festival for HollywoodChicago.com. Throughout the interview, the director kept coming back to his admiration and hope for Mickey Rourke to triumph in his comeback and be noticed again for his amazing performance in “The Wrestler.”

“That became a big reason why I wanted to make the film, the forgotten talent of Mickey Rourke” Aronofsky told me in October.

The sheer exuburance between the two great collaborators last night told me that Aronofsky had achieved his goal. On to the Oscars.
