North, an original work from the for/word company at the American Theater Company

The for/word company presents North, in Chicago for a three-week limited engagement run at the American Theater Company from June 5 to 22, 2008.

Constructed exclusively from the prolific writing of Anne Morrow Lindbergh, wife to aviator Charles,

North tells the story of a charged meeting between the author and Antoine de Saint-Exupéry, French

resistance fighter and author of The Little Prince.  This single encounter ignited a series of events and

memories for Lindbergh, about which she would write for years to come.  North documents the story

of this remarkable woman’s struggle to reconcile motherhood with work, love with duty, and to

articulate the responsibility of the artist to a world sunk in war.
