Acts of Concern: Earth Day 2008

Presented by the Chicago Humanities Festival in partnership with Goodman Theatre, Next Theatre, and Steppenwolf Theatre. Also featuring performances by Rivendell Theatre and Congo Square Theatre.

The Chicago Humanities Festival is pleased to celebrate Earth Day 2008 by remounting - all in one evening - this vivid reading of four original stage works commissioned for and presented at last fall’s “Climate of Concern” Festival.

Each short play profoundly and engagingly considers humanity’s prospect in the face of global climate disruption, while conveying the unique voices of four remarkable playwrights: prize-winning author Don DeLillo; Obie Award-winner José Rivera, and the celebrated Chicago-based dramatists Lisa Dillman and Brian Tucker.

A discussion and Q&A follows the performance.

Play commissions were made possible through the generous support of lead sponsor The Boeing Company. Original October 2007 production was underwritten by major sponsors The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation and the Sara Lee Foundation. Additional support was provided by the National Endowment for the Arts.
