First Tuesdays with The Midwest Independent Film Festival continue with a special Chicago premiere screening of the Steppenwolf Films comedy ‘Diminished Capacity’ (directed by Terry Kinney) on Tuesday, July 1st at Landmark’s Century Centre Cinema, beginning at 6 p.m.

CARMEN WITH EVEN MORE INTENSITY. If you think you’ve seen Carmen in all her blazing persona, wait until you experience this more intimate version of Bizet’s famous opera by Peter Brook, the provocative English theatre and film director.

EXPERIENCE BRITTEN WITH A PERSONAL CONNECTION. One of Britten’s close collaborators was conductor Steuart Bedford, who conducted the first staged performance of Owen Wingrave in 1973, and will join Chicago Opera Theater for this much anticipated production featuring baritone Matthew Worth in the title role.

A fresh take on a Mozart favorite, thanks to a trio of young stars hand picked by COT General Director Brian Dickie. Last seen in Chicago 20 years ago, the opera is a story of passion, revenge, and forgiveness—the perfect subjects for virtuoso arias, as Mozart well knew.
