CHICAGO – After a delay that lasted well in excess of a year, “24” returns to FOX this Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. with a two-hour “special event” (they used to just be called “TV movies”) called “24: Redemption”.
CHICAGO – “Wow! I feel like I’m at a rock concert!” “Me too. It’s like I want to rush the stage!”
While overhearing this conversation between two young women at the recent Chicago opening of “Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story,” I realized there were no better words to sum up Drury Lane’s recent jukebox-blaring, toe-tapping homage to one of the greatest rock and rollers of all time.
Interesting
EO’D, excellent exercise. Very impressed with your grid. Here is my humble opinion.
Kill Law & Order (too diluted), replace with Columbo
The Newhart reference was his second series, put in the “hi Bob” classic Chicago-based first series.
Rosesanne? Kill - Replace with the best of Happy Days/Laverne and Shirley (cheating)
Kill Married w/Children, replace with Herman’s Head (kidding)
Kill Dynasty, replace with Dallas
Kill Chicago Hope, Replace with St. Elsewhere
Father’s Knows Best, only on acid, Replace with The Jack Benny Show
Gunsmoke? Have I ever seen one episode (and I remember it being in prime time)? Replace with West Wing
Three’s Company twice (Tuesday & Friday)?!? I will barely let it in once. Throw in The Brady Bunch for grins.
McGuyver? Meh. Replace with The Twilight Zone
Dragnet, I don’t know, how about The Untouchables, The FBI or Hawaii 5-0
I will give you props for Get Smart, The Muppet Show, Green Acres, all great underrated shows. I agree that 60 Minutes belongs on Sunday, although your all animated Sunday should replace Chicago Hope with Family Guy.
I’ll leave them in, but Lucy, Beaver and The Honeymooners high praise era has passed. NYPD Blue stays only for their ass shots (female category) and where’s any classic variety (Carol Burnett, Ed Sullivan or The Bradys :o) or cult shows (The Prisoner, Monty Python, Doctor Who). We need to wait on The Office and 30 Rock.
Again, great debate exercise.
